On his seven hectares, Gottfried Pöchlinger creates a range of wines that showcases the potential of the terraces above and around Arnsdorf in a highly impressive manner. The most important of his terraces is definitely the Poigen, which covers two kilometres stretching along the backside of the Arnsdorf villages. The size of the terrace and the diversity of its soil structure is reflected in the range of grapes that grow in it: with careful attention to the exact and most suitable type of soil, Riesling and Veltliner, Muskateller and Sauvignon Blanc are vinified there. In addition, Pöchlinger also owns vines in the Mitterbirg and the Scheibenthal, where not just the geological structure of the soil but also the climate is different, owing to the fact that the terraces are 100 metres high. Pöchlinger uses these natural nuances and differences to his advantage, and creates a highly individual and yet representative range of precise, succulent and lively wines. They mature in stainless steel tanks, apart from a single Zweigelt, which matures in a barrique barrel. It is possible to sample the Pöchlinger wines three times a year in their Heurigen, together with fine delicacies from the area and some excellent spirits.
