Visiting the Rehrl vineyard in spring or summer, it becomes obvious why so many people continue to flock to the Wachau region. The old façade of the winery is already inviting, but once seated in the garden guests are so enchanted that they simply no longer want to leave. Partly this is owing to the beautiful views of Dürnstein and the hospitality of the Rehrls, and partly it is on account of the quality of their wines, which grow on a wide stretch of land on the right bank of the Danube. Veltliner and Riesling set the agenda, and they are neatly complemented by Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and various red grape varieties. In addition to emphasizing the specificities of the individual grape varieties, the Rehrls also attempt to let the terroir speak. They believe that less is more, work in harmony with nature and try to keep interventions in the cellar to a minimum. These techniques help further to enhance a vast collection of lively Steinfedern, elegant Federspiele and forceful Smaradge. In addition, the family produces Frizzante, Rosé and Merlot. Together with self-made specialities from the region, all of the wines can be enjoyed in one of the prettiest and oldest Heurigen of the Wachau, which also features a guest garden and a playground. Apricot-, apple- and grape marc spirit guarantee a perfect finale.
