Although he owns barely six hectares, Martin Donabaum manufactures a palette of wines that demand respect. He not only produces the classic spectrum ranging from Steinfeder to Smaragd, but also counts two different lines, a few desert wines, Rosé and one of the best sparkling wines in lower Austria among his products. The two lines are defined by the fact that the Donabaums not only own terraces in Spitz, but also in the small village of Willendorf. With their Grüne Venus, they pay homage to the most famous descendent of the village. The wines from the Willendorf area are a little crisper than those from the Setzberg, where Martin grows half a dozen different grape varieties on thick layers of prehistoric rocks. Veltliner, as so often in this area, takes centre stage, but classics like Neuburger and Muskateller also stand out. Old vines, perfect grape materials, and long maturation processes define Martin’s unique style. It is possible to try these fine wines in a very chic Heurigen, which opens about 4 to 5 times a year. And those who do not wish to leave are very welcome to stay. The Donabaums rent out five rooms in the guesthouse at the winery, in which contemporary elegance is combined with traditional elements. Those who love something more modern are in good hands in the boutique hotel "WEINSPITZ" with 11 spacious, design-oriented and air-conditioned terrace suites with a unique view over the Wachau terraces. In the garden there is a stainless steel infinity pool with a spacious terrace and a wellness bungalow with a sauna and a relaxation room with a great view of the vineyards and the ruins.
