Our winery has existed since 1893. In September 2018, Herbert Polz (4th generation) took over the business from his parents, Brigitte and Erich Polz. Today's farm covers a vineyard area of 12 hectares, with the main grape varieties being Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Muskateller.
The majority of our wines are sold directly from the estate and through our wine tavern ("Heurigen"). Since 1984, we have been a member of the "Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus" association, allowing us to label our naturally crafted wines as "Steinfeder, Federspiel, and Smaragd."
For decades, we have been committed to nature, practicing sustainable viticulture with permanent cover crops and minimizing the use of pesticides. During the harvest, our focus is on selecting only physiologically ripe and healthy grape material for processing in the cellar. This can result in our Riesling Smaragd being harvested as late as November, achieving the capture of the typical characteristics of a Wachau Riesling, such as minerality and fruitiness.
