Although the Wachau possesses an abundance of beautiful old farmhouses, the winery owned by Edith Reithofer occupies a place among the most stunning ones. About 400 years ago, it belonged to a village judge, and not much has changed since then regarding the basic substance and features of the building. The winery is even more beautiful when its doors are wide open, and when guests can enjoy specialities from the Wachau in the garden while contemplating whether to gaze at the famous ruin in Dürnstein or rather at one of the many beautiful terraces. In either case, the views are spectacular. In addition, a range of Rossatzer wines provides fierce competition to the beautiful location. Edith Reithofer cultivates mainly Veltliner on her four hectares, but also Riesling, Neuburger, Muskateller and Zweigelt. The diploma-certified winemaker vinifies across the entire category spectrum, and her wines range from fresh, succulent Steinfedern to vigorous Smaragde and some sweet wines.. Clear, precise fruity notes generally dominate, while lusciousness and authenticity represent further trademark characteristics of her wines.
