Renate and Matthias Gallhofer’s main priority is the production of representative and traditional wines, which are palate-pleasing and allow both the characteristics of the respective grape variety and those of the Wachau to shine. And they spare no efforts to achieve this aim. Much work is still done manually in their vineyards – for example the fertilizing. The couple strongly believe in the principles of sustainable and wholesome production. Veltliner takes up the number one position in their repertoire: they turn it into a fresh and fruity easy drinking wine on the one hand, and into a long-lasting peppery Smaragd on the other. In addition, they also produce Riesling, a creamy and exotic Pinot Blanc, the intensely aromatic Muscat Ottonel and two different Zweigelt versions. The Gallhofers know very well that their impressive liquid universe of aromas and styles demands to be complemented by some culinary delicacies. It is for that reason that they offer an imposing selection of Wachauer specialities in their Heurigen three times a year. The family also owns a holiday flat in order to be able to accommodate the steadily growing number of regular customers.
