kalmuck - the wine in a new robe:
As a convinced Wachau wine-grower, Franz-Josef Gritsch sees caring for and maintaining the Wachau as his obligation and duty. Just as he loves his heritage and cherishes its wine culture, he walks new paths resolutely. One such path has led to endowing a wine with the novel kalmuck label. This wine, grown on various stone terraces from Loiben to Spitz along the Danube, unites innovation and tradition.
The traditional costume kalmuck-Janker, integral part of Wachau folk culture, has seen a veritable renaissance thanks to the kalmuck-Wines®. Today, the fashionable kalmuck pattern is found on polo shirts and accessories such scarves and ties, which are also available at the winery. Thus the tradition of the Wachau has successfully been revived, strengthened and contemporarily interpreted. The opening of the kamluck cellar in the centre of Spitz in 2014 has given Family Gritsch a modern cellar as the perfect complement to the Mauritiushof with its centuries of tradition and just a stone´s throw away!
Every bottle of kalmuck® carries the spirit of the Wachau a step further. kalmuck-Wines® are deemed ambassadors for Wachau wine quality and culture.
