Jakob Buchinger is young, dynamic and has a clear plan: his estate (on which four generations mingle) is founded on holistic principles. Growing wine is the most important part of his venture, but he and his family also bake bread, grow potatoes, produce meat and lard and distil exquisite spirits from the fruit of their 150 apricot trees. Jakob subscribes to traditional ideas and particularly cherishes direct contact with his many regular customers. This special relationship is further strengthened by the ever better quality of his wines, which cover all categories from Steinfeder to Smaragd. His focus in the vineyard is increasingly on sustainable cultivation, and he supports the biodiversity on his land by planting plenty of greenery. His desire to achieve the highest possible qualities in everything he produces is manifest in his wines, which are elegant, compact, fruity and – this is of particular importance to him – wholesome. In addition to all-year-round cellar tours and tastings it is also possible to taste all the delicious products the Buchingers make in the family’s Heurigen four times a year. It is certainly worth it!
