Company information

The Eder family in Mauternbach owns seven hectares of terraces. Made from grapes grown between the Raubern, Süssenberg and the Silberbichl, Andreas Eder’s wines strikingly demonstrate the potential of the terraces located on the right bank of the Danube. Capturing as accurately as possible the characteristic features of a grape variety in the bottle is of elemental importance to Eder, but he is equally concerned with preserving and mirroring the natural conditions of the region, above all its soil and warm climate. These influences are beautifully complemented by cooler air from the Dunkelsteiner woods, which is responsible for the nicely balanced acidity of Eder’s wines. Eder’s wines age gracefully: he vinifies wines with potential by leaving them on the lees for a long time and by bottling them late. This applies particularly to his Smaragd, but also to his Veltliner from the Süssenberg and his impressive Traminer.   He applies exactly the same technique to his vivacious and mineral Federspiel. Eder’s dedicated pursuit of high qualities is also manifest in his fruity and precise apricot spirit. His sister´s bed and breakfast as well as a tasting room invite guests to explore Andreas Eder’s wines in more detail.
